We want to ensure a smooth delivery process for your furniture while addressing any concerns related to damages during transit. Here are the key points regarding our courier services and associated terms and conditions:
Dispatch Time:
Once the courier fee is received, we strive to ship orders within 24 business hours.
Delivery Fee:
We do not markup delivery fees but assist in arranging a quote sent directly to you.
Courier Tracking: For updates after dispatch, please contact the courier. We will assist with tracking and ensuring timely delivery.
Nationwide:
We have partnered with trusted couriers to provide reliable nationwide shipping.
Returns:
You may return purchased items within seven days from the payment date for a refund or exchange.

A fee is charged for all deliveries, reflected on an invoice presented to the customer for payment. Our own delivery team and courier partners deliver to your front pavement. We do not deliver inside properties or hoist products over balconies, doors, or railings. Delivery personnel are instructed not to attempt delivery where damages might occur.

For all custom made items and out-of-stock pre-orders, please note there will be a waiting period. Here’s what you can expect:

Arriving Soon: The ETA is noted in the product description and heading. These items are already made and on their way to our store.

Pre-Orders & Custom Made Products: Typically, allow 4 to 8 weeks for manufacturing and an additional 4 to 8 weeks for shipping. Depending on our manufacturing cycle, your order might be included in an earlier or later container, potentially changing the lead time.

Your order may arrive sooner or later than the estimated times. Understanding these timelines will help you make an informed decision.

Delivery Terms
& Conditions
Dispatch Time:
We aim to dispatch your in-stock order within 48 hours of payment.

Free Delivery:
From time to time, we offer free delivery either within 100km of our showroom in Westlake, Cape Town, or nationwide. However, certain products may not qualify for free delivery due to their fragility, requiring handling by professional movers.
​
Delayed Delivery
If delivery is arranged and paid for by the client, and our driver is unable to complete the delivery at the scheduled time due to the client’s own fault, a second delivery fee will be charged.
​
Terrazzo, Over-sized and 150cm (or larger) Mirrors:
Please note that Terrazzo products weighing over 30 kg per item, or any other product with a total weight of 50 kg or more and mirrors 150cm or larger, cannot be delivered using our own delivery van due to weight limitations. We will outsource delivery to a specialised courier equipped to handle heavy products.

Clients will be invoiced directly by the courier, and payment must be made in full prior to delivery. All items will be insured for their full value and covered by the courier's insurance policy during transit. Additionally, we occasionally offer free delivery within the Cape Town region; however, this promotion does not apply to the aforementioned heavy products.

Cape Town In-Store Pickup:
Cape Town clients are welcome to collect their in-stock orders immediately after payment has been received. Simply select the "In-Store Pickup" option during checkout to take advantage of this convenient choice.

For furniture or multiple items that exceed the dimensions of a waybill bag, the following rates apply based on the distance from our store:

For orders exceeding three cubic meters or for deliveries 100+ km away from Cape Town, please request a delivery quote for accurate pricing. Our logistics manager will send a payment link for easy payment via Snapscan, instant EFT, or credit/debit card. We do not add extra fees to the delivery fee.

These orders are typically delivered by our own truck, five days a week. We aim to dispatch your order within 24 hours of receiving your courier payment.
Waybill Bag (fits items up to 30x30x30cm): R100 within 75km, R250 for 100–160km.
Furniture, Décor & Lighting:
Delivery fees for larger items/orders vary depending on your location, order size, and weight. As a guide:
Three 90cm pendants delivered 60 km from our store: R750.00
Eight dining chairs delivered 60kms from our store: R1200.00
Four cushions delivered 30kms from our store: R100.00
Eight dining chairs delivered 25kms from our store: R650.00
One 60cm clay lamp delivered 18kms from our store: R450.00
All of the above items, delivered together to one client (60km from our store): R1200.00
Environmentally-Conscious Packaging:
We support sustainability by using good quality, lightly used second hand boxes wherever possible. If you require new packaging, or if your order is intended as a gift, please let us know in advance. A nominal charge will apply for new packaging. For customers exporting goods via long haul road freight, we strongly recommend the use of new, double walled boxes to reduce the risk of damage in transit.

Insurance Cost:
The prices listed on our website do not include insurance for your order. The insurance cost is determined based on your order value, which we can assess once your order is placed. We’ll promptly provide you with an insurance quote to ensure your shipment is fully covered from our warehouse to your delivery address.

Handling Damaged Parcels During Transit:
If, during transit, the courier damages your parcel and the damaged item is in stock, we'll expedite the dispatch of a replacement as soon as the courier completes the insurance claim process. If the exact item isn't available, you'll have the option to receive a store credit for an alternative product or request a full refund. Funds or store credit will be issued after the insurance claim is processed by the courier company.

Exclusions:
Our insurance coverage does not extend to parcels collected by a courier of your choice or when you opt to collect the item in person. We ensure a thorough inspection of parcels before dispatch and encourage both you and your courier to do the same upon collection.

Delivery Fee:
We do not markup delivery fees but assist in arranging a quote sent directly to you. The delivery fee should be paid directly to the courier as the service constitutes a direct agreement between you and the courier company.

Acceptance of Quote:
By accepting the courier quote, you confirm that the provided delivery address, cost, insurance cost, and contact information are accurate. Any additional charges resulting from incorrect delivery information or delivery to the wrong premises will be billed directly to you by the courier company.

Updates and Tracking:
Once your order leaves our warehouse, please contact the courier for further updates, as the process is no longer within our control. However, we will assist you in tracking your shipment and ensuring timely deliveries.

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions:
By placing an order with Eight Degrees South, you acknowledge and agree to adhere to these terms and conditions, including our policy on courier-related damages. Should you have any questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Showroom Purchases:
If you viewed the product on display in the showroom, it is considered sold in its current condition, and returns for display stock will not be accepted.

Our own delivery team and courier partners deliver to your front pavement. We do not deliver inside properties or hoist products over balconies, doors, or railings. Delivery personnel are instructed not to attempt delivery where damages might occur.

Risk and Liability:
Once the order is collected by the courier, all risk passes to the customer, who is insured by the courier. Deliveries will not be made after hours, weekends, or public holidays. We will notify you of any delivery delays but will not be held liable for any losses, costs, or damages arising from late delivery. If delivery is delayed due to a breach of your obligations, risk shall pass on the date when delivery would have occurred but for your breach. From that time, we will not be liable for loss or destruction of the product. The customer is required to inspect the products upon delivery.

Store Credits and Vouchers:
Store credits, gift cards, and vouchers are valid for 24 months from the date of issue and can only be used in-store. We reserve the right to stop issuing store credits at any time. Credits are not refundable for cash.
Returns & Refunds
Return and Exchange Period
Purchased items may be returned within seven days from the payment date for a refund or exchange. If you request that we hold your order for later collection or delivery, the seven day return period still runs from the payment date and not from the delivery date. Where delivery or collection is delayed at the customer’s request, or where goods are placed into storage, the cooling off period will be deemed to have lapsed and the items will no longer be eligible for return or refund. In such circumstances, the customer agrees to hold the company harmless from any liability relating to the return or refund of the goods.

At the time of placing your order, our sales team will confirm delivery arrangements with you. If you ask us to store your order until you are ready for delivery, a storage fee may apply. Where delivery is delayed due to a building site not being ready, or where goods are stored for longer than one week, the order will need to be insured for the duration of storage.

Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable.

Exceptions to Refund Policy
We cannot accept exchanges, returns, or refunds for:
- Sale items
- Pre-orders
- Custom orders
- Items in transit or production

Natural Materials
Our products are made using natural materials and handcrafted processes. As wood continues to dry and settle, natural splits and cracks may occur. These are part of the material’s character and natural evolution.
No two pieces are exactly alike. Variations in colour, grain, texture and finish are to be expected and are a result of the artisanal nature of our products. We do not accept returns or exchanges based on natural variations, marks or imperfections.

Defective Goods
Refunds are available exclusively for products with manufacturing defects. A manufacturing defect is defined as an unintended flaw in the product.
​
If you believe a product is defective, you must notify us within three business days of receiving the item. The determination of whether a product is defective is at the sole discretion of Eight Degrees South.
​
For confirmed defective products, we will either replace the item or issue a full refund. Please allow 7–10 business days for refunds to be processed.
​
We reserve the right to decline refund requests for products that are not deemed defective.
Refunds, replacements or store credits for defective products may take up to 7 business days from receipt of the returned item.
​
Container Ship Delays
Delivery dates and estimates are not guaranteed. Shipping timelines may be affected by factors beyond our control, including port congestion, customs delays, weather conditions and shipping line schedules. Eight Degrees South cannot be held liable for delays in delivery, and refusal of delivery due to delay is not permitted. All sales of pre-ordered products are final. Refunds are not available on pre-ordered items.
Cooling-Off Period (CPA)
You can cancel your order within 24 hours of placing it and request a refund. Only banking charges will be deducted.
Goods Exported
Our return policy does not cover goods exported outside South Africa.
